Frequently asked questions
What are Legl’s AI Agents?
Agents gather and parse information and documents, operate remediation loops with clients to collect the correct details from the outset, research and structure information for faster screening and ongoing monitoring and more. Agents are there to flag discrepancies and non-conformity with your firm’s risk policies for human attention.
How does Legl use AI agents?
Legl's risk agents exist to remove the manual back and forth, the gathering and structuring of data, and ensure that processes are applied consistently. The are used throughout Legl's platform, for example to surface better risk signals analysis when screening clients, or when enforcing the firm's policies around accepted document types when onboarding a new client. In Source of Funds, AI reads the bank statements and surfaces income, large one-off payments, balance trends and higher-risk activity, with a mathematical validation step confirming the figures are consistent before they reach you. Risk assessments pull through what Legl already knows about the client, and trust deeds are analysed to identify trustees, settlors and beneficiaries. These agents enable firms to automate and accelerate more back office processes, whilst ensuring that firm standards are maintained across the board.
Can automatic escalation paths be built into Legl?
Yes, Risk Rules applies your firm's own risk policy to every client automatically, including escalating certain high-risk clients or matters to the relevant stakeholders in your firm. And where a Risk Assessment identifies a high-risk factor, it can be escalated automatically, with an email to your MLRO or other nominated reviewers and the assessment queued for their review. Reassessment dates can be set by risk level too, so high-risk matters come round for review sooner.
Can I edit my firm's screening configuration myself?
Yes. Admins control screening from your monitoring settings, and changes apply firm-wide. For individuals you choose which categories you screen against. Sanctions, PEPs (including which seniority levels), warnings by source jurisdiction, and adverse media, alongside where you pick the risk types, how widely to search, and how sensitive matching should be, is all available via the settings. This also applies to Company Monitoring settings where you firm can choose to categorise also the risk level of the alterts that you receive.
What is a governance layer?
It's the layer that sits between your firm-wide risk policies and appetite and your day-to-day processes across onboarding, AML, payments and more. A governance layer ensures the policies unique to your firm are actually applied to every client consistently. Through the deep configuration available, to the ability to set up your firm's Risk Rules, Legl ensures that your requirements are applied across the firm, and you get a defensible record of how each client was assessed and why.
How does Legl’s Risk Rules work?
Your firm’s risk policies, procedures and processes are codified into a set of rules which are applied consistently across your client onboarding and AML processes. Legl’s agents ensure that the rules are enforced, remediating directly with the firm’s client, and ensuring that firm staff are equipped with the right information to make quick decisions.
