Frequently asked questions
What is a governance layer?
It's the layer that sits between your firm-wide risk policies and appetite and your day-to-day processes across onboarding, AML, payments and more. A governance layer ensures the policies unique to your firm are actually applied to every client consistently. Through the deep configuration available, to the ability to set up your firm's Risk Rules, Legl ensures that your requirements are applied across the firm, and you get a defensible record of how each client was assessed and why.
How can my firm set up Risk Rules?
Legl provides a white-glove service to help your firm align your policies into practice. We use your firm-wide risk policies to identify risk rules which are approved by you before the go-live. We can also support firms through questionnaires to develop risk rules together if preferred - and if you're short on time, there's a strong default rule set drawn from what firms' policies most commonly require that you can start with and tailor later.
Can I build a custom Risk Assessment?
Yes you can set up your firm's own risk assessment templates, or you have access to SRA templates out-the-box with Legl. Admins can build risk assessments in Legl using your existing risk assessment form and scoring logic as the basis: your questions, your sections, your conditional logic, your helper text, and your own mapping of answers to risk ratings. You can have separate client and matter templates, or assess both together in one.
Can I restrict what information certain team members can see in Legl?
Yes, at several levels. Admins set permissions per user across different parts of Legl's platform. Workflows can be restricted so only chosen departments see them. Where a firm needs stronger separation, there are further routes e.g. department permissions to keep a contact's onboarding results visible only to the acting department and compliance. Admins keep full visibility throughout. Single sign-on is supported for firms managing access through their own identity provider.
Is Legl configurable to my firm's risk policy?
Yes this is the core foundation of Legl's platform. Whether you're creating department specific client onboarding workflows, or selecting the company screening settings, or configuring your risk assessment, you have the ability to deeply configure Legl's platform with your firm's risk requirements. Legl gives you the checks, the automation and the audit trail. The policy behind them stays yours, and the compliance decisions remain your firm's responsibility.
