For a regulated law firm, the client relationship begins with compliance. Before a matter can move, the firm needs to verify who its client is, assess the risk the client and matter carry, and screen against sanctions and anti-money-laundering watchlists. Done manually, that work adds friction at exactly the moment a firm wants to make a good first impression.
Osbourne Pinner Solicitors, a leading London-based immigration and litigation practice, wanted onboarding and compliance to work as one smooth journey rather than a series of disconnected manual steps. In March 2026 the firm went live on Legl’s client lifecycle management platform and within its first few months had made it the backbone of how it takes on new clients.
The challenge
As a regulated practice, Osbourne Pinner must complete client due diligence, client and matter risk assessments, and AML and sanctions screening on the people and businesses it works with. The firm was looking for a single platform to run all of their processes, all whilst enabling their clients to have a digital-first experience that they could complete remotely, and without confusion.
Point solutions stitched together would have meant more handoffs, more admin and a more disjointed experience for clients. The firm wanted the opposite: one workflow, built once, that carries a new client from first contact through to a verified, risk-assessed, screened matter.
“Our onboarding process is the first thing a client experiences with us, so it needs to be fast, intuitive and simple. We wanted one place to run due diligence, risk and screening - not a stack of tools our team had to hold together by hand.” — Ravin Singh, Practice Manager, Osbourne Pinner Solicitors
The solution
Osbourne Pinner adopted Legl across the full client lifecycle. A single client-facing workflow now brings together the checks the firm is required to run:
- Client and business due diligence (KYC and KYB);
- client and matter risk assessments;
- PEPs and sanctions screening and AML watchlist checks;
- Source of Funds and Source of Wealth checks;
- Proof of address verification.
Legl’s integrations connect that onboarding journey into the firm’s existing ways of working, so compliance is part of intake rather than a separate task bolted on afterwards.
The result is one lifecycle the firm controls and the client can complete from anywhere which replaced a patchwork of manual steps with a single, guided experience.
The results
In its first few months on the platform, Osbourne Pinner ran over 500 new client onboarding processes through Legl spanning due diligence, risk assessment and screening. The mix shows the platform doing what an integrated intake should: every new client is run through due diligence, and through both a client and a matter risk assessment where required.
Clients complete the journey, and they do it quickly. Of the onboarding workflows the firm sent to clients, 86% were completed. When clients engage, they move fast: the average turnaround from a workflow being sent to it being completed is about a day, with clients spending well under half a day on their part.
That speed compounds. Every day saved at intake is a day sooner the firm can act on a matter driving better overall timelines for the firm and clients alike. It has also created a smoother, clearer first experience for the client, improving client retention and referrals.
“Client onboarding used to take days of manual back-and-forth. It now happens in about a day, and most of that is the client working at their own pace. My team spends less time chasing documents and clients benefit from a slick digital experience” — Ravin Singh, Senior Office Manager, Osbourne Pinner Solicitors
Improving client experience
“We are extremely pleased with the Legl platform. Legl’s team is highly responsive to our queries, and our clients have not experienced any difficulties using the platform for onboarding. Additionally, Legl’s support team has been very helpful and responsive for our clients.” — Ravin Singh, Senior Office Manager, Osbourne Pinner Solicitors
For a firm putting its own clients through a compliance journey, that responsiveness, to both the firm and the people it serves, is part of the value. The compliance work still gets done to standard; it just no longer gets in the way of the relationship.
Looking ahead
Osbourne Pinner is an example of what the Legl platform is built to deliver: regulated compliance handled as one connected client lifecycle, high completion at speed, and a support experience the firm can feel. As the firm grows, Legl can help to ensure processes continue at scale, and that clients continue to have a best-in-class onboarding and compliance experience.
